According to the Ukrainian General Staff, Russia launched 2,597 drones against Ukraine within a week. As the General Staff announced on Facebook, the Ukrainian defence forces neutralised 2,282 of these drones – a shoot-down rate of more than 87 per cent over these seven days. The news agency Ukrinform reported on the statement.

According to the statement, drones of the types “Shahed” 131/136/238, “Parodiya” and “Gerbera” were deployed. The General Staff stressed that the rate demonstrates the high effectiveness of Ukrainian air defence given the scale and intensity of Russian attacks. It is the result of coordinated operations by the air forces, anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, electronic warfare systems and operators of unmanned systems.

At the same time, Russia is constantly improving its tactics, using various routes and altitudes, combining combat drones with decoy models and attempting to overload Ukrainian air defence with many simultaneous aerial targets. Every neutralised target lowers the risk of fatalities and of damage to residential buildings, energy facilities and other critical infrastructure. However, even a very effective air defence cannot completely eliminate the danger. The General Staff therefore called on the population not to ignore air-raid alarms and not to pass on information about air-defence operations.
