Around 30,000 people took part in the parade, with about 200,000 lining the streets. The march was held under the motto ‘Our Diversity. Our Strength’ and was part of a three-day street festival featuring concerts and political discussion panels.

Markus Söder (CSU) wrote on platform X: ‘Bavaria is cosmopolitan and tolerant. In our state, everyone can live and love as they wish – that is the Liberalitas Bavariae.’ The event’s patron is Mayor Dominik Krause (Greens), who is himself gay.

According to organizer Conrad Breyer, there were no major incidents. ‘Everyone looked out for each other,’ Breyer said. Organizers had set up drinking water dispensers and water spray stations. Police advised seeking shady spots.

The CSD in Munich also sees itself as a counterweight to the rising number of queerphobic incidents. According to the counseling center ‘Strong!’, these increased in Bavaria from 289 to 413 last year.
