The historic breakthrough of the Ukrainian fighters, who became the only representatives of Bavaria in the K-1 discipline of the German national team, did not go unnoticed by the parliamentarians. Prior to this, the athletes and the head coach of the club, Karen Dalaloyan, were invited to the Bavarian Landtag.

The initiator of the meeting was the Member of Parliament for Upper Bavaria (Oberbayern), Matthias Bonigut. For the athletes of the KARS club, the visit to the Landtag became a landmark event. They not only managed to speak with the parliamentarians but also personally attended a session in the plenary hall.

The MPs personally congratulated Illia and Filipp on their outstanding athletic results and wished them victories at the upcoming WAKO World Championship, which will be held in Italy in September. According to the politicians, the successes of the KARS club are a brilliant example of social integration through sports.

“The support of young athletes is incredibly important. In Munich alone, there are almost 60,000 Ukrainians living,” noted the Vice President of the Landtag, Markus Rinderspacher. “Sport is what unites, takes people off the streets, and promotes mutual understanding. These are magnificent athletes, and it is important that they receive the necessary support.”

Landtag member Christiane Feichtmeier also emphasized her readiness to assist the club: “It is very important to me that we involve Ukrainian youth in our sporting events. I will fight for the development of kickboxing, because then we will have more opportunities to allocate state funds for training.”

The acute shortage of training infrastructure in Munich was also a topic of the dialogue.

The head coach of the KARS club, Karen Dalaloyan, evaluated the meeting as extremely useful: “The parliament learned about our guys and our organization. Our cause is good, noble, and necessary, so we believe that everything will work out.” Now the athletes can fully focus on their main task — competing for World Championship medals in Italy.
