Porsche may cut up to 4,000 additional jobs on top of already announced job reductions, according to the Handelsblatt. The report says employees in management and administration are particularly affected. At the Weissach development site, around 30 percent of capacities are to be reviewed.
A Porsche spokesman declined to confirm the specific number when asked by the dpa news agency, but pointed to a comprehensive future package currently being developed to streamline the company. The package is expected to be presented by the end of July. Management and employee representatives are currently negotiating a further savings package.
Porsche CEO Michael Leiters had already announced a further extensive job cut in March – in addition to an initial package. By 2029, around 1,900 jobs are to be cut in a socially responsible manner in the Stuttgart region. Fixed-term contracts for about 2,000 employees have also expired. In May, Porsche announced the closure of three subsidiaries, affecting another 500 employees.
