After temperatures exceeded 30 degrees Celsius in the Pullach elementary school, the Greens in the municipal council are calling for immediate measures such as fans and mobile air conditioning units, as reported by the Süddeutsche Zeitung.

At the end of June, temperatures in the Pullach elementary school exceeded 30 degrees Celsius, especially on the upper floor of the so-called Schuster building. Parents and teachers report that children had to make do with mini fans. The Greens in the municipal council responded with an urgent motion, demanding short-term measures from the municipality such as fans, mobile air conditioning units, or relocating classes.

“When elementary school children sit in overheated classrooms at over 30 degrees and teaching is barely possible, the municipality cannot stand by idly. Heat protection is health protection,” said Fabian Müller-Klug, spokesperson for the Pullach Greens, in a press release. The group also proposes more shading and water misters on the schoolyard. Short-term feasible measures are also needed for the elderly and care facilities.

Mayor Christine Eisenmann (CSU) stated that the administration is currently reviewing immediate measures. For the elementary school, alternative options such as shaded outdoor areas and cooler rooms in the basement are already available. A prevention concept for heat protection adopted by the municipal council in 2024 is being implemented, according to Eisenmann.
