The 24-year-old man who threw stones at the Israeli Consulate General in Munich in March has died, according to the Munich Public Prosecutor General's Office.

The 24-year-old, who held Yemeni citizenship, had been temporarily placed in the Mainkofen District Hospital after the incident in March. According to initial findings by investigators, he is believed to have taken his own life there in early July. The criminal police and the Deggendorf public prosecutor’s office are now investigating the incident as part of a death inquest.

The Munich Public Prosecutor General’s Office had filed charges against the man in June. The allegations included disturbing the public peace, property damage, and aggravated assault on police officers. Investigators assumed the suspect held a firmly entrenched anti-Israel stance.

According to the indictment, the man allegedly threw fist-sized stones at the consulate’s facade. He then set down his backpack and shouted “Allahu Akbar,” triggering a major police operation. Officers suspected a bomb attack, but the backpack turned out to be harmless. During his arrest, the man kicked and pushed against the officers but did not injure them.

Due to an acute risk of self-harm and harm to others, the 24-year-old was initially taken to a hospital and later placed in pretrial detention. After a psychiatric assessment suggesting diminished criminal responsibility, he was again placed in a clinic.
