The accident occurred early in the morning around six o’clock on the federal highway B321 between Bandenitz and Warsow. A deer suddenly crossed the road and collided with the car of a 39-year-old woman. The animal was thrown into the oncoming lane and smashed through the windshield of a 66-year-old’s car.
The 66-year-old driver suffered such severe injuries that she died at the scene. The 39-year-old driver was slightly injured and taken to a hospital, according to authorities. Both vehicles were no longer drivable. The property damage is estimated at 60,000 euros.
Police directed traffic on the heavily used commuter route to the A24 in a single lane past the accident site.
