The four-lined snake, a species originally native to southern Europe, is being spotted more frequently in Bavaria.

The four-lined snake is non-venomous and harmless to humans. It can grow up to 1.5 meters long and feeds mainly on rodents and lizards. In Bavaria, it is increasingly finding suitable living conditions as temperatures rise and winters become milder.
